Ceridwen by firehairphenom Ceridwen by firehairphenom
Not your typical ranger :P

I normally don't play rangers, but as my local pnp group was pretty beefed out with rogues, warlocks, and warlords, I figured I'd play our party's token sniper. A far cry from the animal loving tree-hugging, scimitar-wielding, green cloak wearing and panther-partnering ranger, I wanted to play something different for a change, especially in a class that a lot of people don't really bother with developing that much. So meet Ceridwen, a gritty, somewhat feral elf that's spent so much of her life in the woods she's become something of an animal herself. She knows that truly the only kinship that is felt in the natural world is that between predator and prey. Beneath the peaceful exterior, beneath the green leaves and crystalline streams, is the fear in the darkness, the desperate heart-pounding chase, and the spilled blood of the hunt.

Sketched with pencil and touched up in Photoshop, about 3h

Nice character sketch and description! I have just become fond of Warlocks myself, but rangers are quite awesome if multi-classed with some other fighting classes

Thanks! Yeah I love warlocks myself, too, but the warlock in the group was already taken :(

I am so not interested in meeting the child your character and Bishop would...

Excrete.
Yes, I think that would most definately be the correct word.

If you are playing this character with the crew I played with in Spokane, you might be interested to know that Dave was quite irked at his inability to kill any of you last week. We chatted for an hour or so yesterday.
(I pretty much always find his irritation amusing in such things, and thought you might as well.)

I am DEFINITELY interested in at least participating in such child creation. At least for practice XD

LOL I'm not surprised he was trying to kill us, we had hardly taken two steps into his "dungeon" before we were assaulted by mass azure jellies, and then after an extended rest we faced off against a nasty horde of undead. I was beginning to feel like a n00b that's wandered into a higher level dungeon on accident. "Am I supposed to be bloodied within two minutes of entering? Is this some sort of character building exercise?"

Well... Maybe "trying to kill us" is a bit harsh. But I know from experience that evil that befalls players in his games causes him glee, and he was dissapointed when none of you were taking a dirt nap by the end.

As for my experience... Ask the crew about the one handed palladin sometime. (Grumble grumble fucking second ed "save vs death" bullshit grumble grumble)

All that said, he is a bit behind me when it comes to killing off players when running games. In my defense, I never actually had to go out of my way to do it. The players in question were just being remarkably retarded. Seriously. Ask Justus or Eckler sometime about Jiggs or Effanna in my D&D game I ran for a while. Between the two of them they were going through a character a week for about two months. It got pretty ridiculous by the end.

Lovely piece. I really like how 'spotty' it is, like it's an old film or something.

Ceridwen is a celtic goddess irl; Taliesin's mother (of a sorts), if you're familiar with old myths at all.

Thanks for the comment!
